About B.C. Wilson
I started B C Wilson in April 2001 when I was offered the opportunity to take on an existing lime spreading business. The machine I spread lime with then was a 1987 Mercedes Unimog with a land driven Bredal B50 spreader. Unfortunately in 2002 this spreader was damaged beyond repair so a new Bredal K65 spreader was purchased and fitted to the Unimog. This spreader can spread variable rate. A 1998 Mercedes Unimog 2450 replaced the old Unimog in 2007 and the K65 got transferred. In 2017, it was time to replace the Unimog, so I purchased a 3yr old MAN TGM 13.290 4×4 truck with a Gustrower mounted spreader. This has increased the amount of workload that I can do in a day with one spreader compared to my K65 due to the spreader being bigger and having the capability of spreading fertiliser up to 36m. The K65 it is now mounted on a chassis, making it a trailed, tractor towed spreader. A trailed Bredal K85 spreader was purchased in 2013. The 2 trailed spreaders are operated by a local contractor, C & SD Leckenby.

My 1st quad bike was bought in 2002. This was mainly to make soil sampling easier, quicker and with less compaction. In 2003 I decided to purchase a slug pelleter to mount onto the quad. Over the years my quad bike side of the business has increased as I have added further services. The quad has been changed a few times over the years and is currently one of the last made hydrostatic 500cc Honda. In 2018, I purchased an additional quad with more power and the ability to add tracks instead of wheels. This is an 800cc Can-am. This made the bigger jobs, such as avadex application much easier. Both quads are suited to individual jobs but they can do each others jobs if needed. In 2020, I purchased a Honda Pioneer and the only Magictec soil sampler in the UK to streamline my soil sampling side of the business.
